The 120km/hr Drive

He wasn’t ecstatic to say the least, but he just liked the idea of something out of the ordinary; his life was becoming routine, and anything that meant a slight change was a welcome idea any day.

 

Ada worked with Zenith Bank and as such didn’t have much of a social life and that sort of made us like two peas in a pod; it turned out to be the one thing that we had in common. She was also a thorough beauty.

 

The car racing was something to remember. We had driven out of her office with me in the lead, cos I was the one who knew the fastest route to our rendezvous point. Abuja is a haven for fast cars, but even at that, it was same for us with our Japanese machine: Toyota.

You could do 120km/hr on the roads and no one would shoot you even a fleeting glance, let alone think you are doing something out of the ordinary.

 

A lengthy story cut short, she matched up pretty well and occasionally flashed me inviting smiles as we raced on.

Our first point of call was Chicken Capitol, considering they had the best Shawarma in Abuja and we had talked about it severally on bbm; this was my treat, my spot…I was totally loving the idea of showing her new places in town.

We ordered and seeing as there is usually a long wait that accompanied the wonderful shawarma, I suggested we went somewhere else to kill time. This time around we went in just one car; I wanted this phase to be a bit up close and personal, with me steering; it’s something I had long since envisaged.

Talking about any and everything could be very therapeutic, cos we got to talk about a lot, ranging from challenges in the working environment largely dominated by men, to the thing with Syria and what exactly she thought was the best course of action. Considering I’m sapiosexual, with the more I found out about all she knew and how smart she was, affection started to spark up where I thought it impossible.
